What is the differance between Santa Clause and Tiger Woods?

KB here.

Porter has some sort of a sinusey cold thingy. Last night he kept mumbling in his sleep, which he never does.

2AM Porter: What?! Hey, what door do you want me to go through?!"
Me: There is no door, go back to bed.
3AM Porter: WHAT? What did you say?
Me: I didn't say anything. Go back to bed.
Then at four I had to shake him awake because I thought he stopped breathing. Talk about an interesting night.

In other news, I had a great weekend in Utah staying with Dyan and Jesse. Despite the fact that it's Christmas time, a typically busy time of the year, and my Aunt Dyan had a boot on her foot.. ya know .. because it's broken..they still had the good graces to let us stay with them. We had so much fun. We saw the lights on temple square and got to see old friends.
We only got stuck in a snow bank once.

My family is finally going to get to see my house. Well, half my family. My dad is coming through with my brothers and my sister in law. I'm excited to have house guest. I shall clean and light candles and they shall pretend to be impressed!

Just for the record, I love Christmas time the most. It is a time to truly reflect on Christ.

So as for this week. Two Weddings, Five house guest, One unfinished gift... and a partridge and a pear tree.

It's about time!

Welp, this is the Kelsey half speaking for the Porter and Kelsey duo. P Baby and I were just saying a few days ago that it's funny how excited we were to start this little blog and we've had all of what? Four post on it.

A lot has happened since our last post. The move. The new house. The new yard. The new baby. Kidding about that last one, just keeping you on your toes...

I've gone nine minutes of my lunch break left at work. Speaking of that. A guy called a few weeks ago asking if he could bring his dog in because he broke his tooth. When the Dr. declined he said, "Okay, what if I make an appointment for myself and keep my dog out in my car.. can you come out and work on him? I have some meds that can knock him out for fifteen minutes."

That's dedication to ones pet.

Not to be Negative Nelly, but Wednesdays are my least favorite. I get home right about the time Port leaves for class, then I spend a chilly night at home under a blanket eating bon-bons and watching re-runs of Oprah. Okay, maybe not the bon bon Oprah part but you get the picture.

Welp time for work. Until next time.

Nature Weekend 2009

The one and only Shoshone Falls
Ahhhhhh nature and love

LDS Temple Twin Falls, ID

Well what better way to spend a beautiful weekend then out and about in nature.  God has created nature for our use and pleasure so we decided we better not disappoint God and we packed our weekend full of nature.  We kicked off nature weekend by going to Shoshone Falls located near Twin Falls, ID.   The falls is at its peak flow right now and it is amazing.  We were not the only ones that had the idea of going.  We had to wait about 30 min to get down to the falls but as you can see it was well worth the wait.  We also were able to enjoy the company of Kelly, Linda, and Kinsey.
After the falls we took a short detour through Twin Falls and stop at the LDS Temple.  It is hard to tell which was more breath taking; the falls or the temple....?  We are calling it a draw.  All this went down on saturday so sunday afternoon we capped off the weekend by going to celebration park and Halversons Lakes ( we unfortunately dont have pics form that ).  It was a really fun hike and really nice weather.  We also choose to walk form our apartment to Kelly and Betsy's house so that added to our afternoon hike around we walked about 10.2 miles, pretty impressive eh? Well until next time enjoy our Wild America.

Just to set things straight...

Kelsey is not a fan of the Kachina dolls that Porter has decided to decorate the living room with.. on the contrary, she thinks they are... of a hideous nature. Porter first put them over the bed (which was bad enough) but they have now migrated out into the living room for every guest to see. They sit there, above the T.V. taunting me (Kelsey) with their stupid, evil glare. It will be my next project to take some pictures and post them, for the public to see.

The Zia

Dancing Kachinas
The Zia as represented in the NM state flag

The Zia Indians of New Mexico regard the Sun as a sacred symbol. Their symbol, a red circle with groups of rays pointing in four directions, is painted on ceremonial vases, drawn on the ground around campfires, and used to introduce newborns to the Sun. Four is the sacred number of the Zia and can be found repeated in the four points radiating from the circle. The number four is embodied in:
the four points of the compass (north, south, east, and west);
the four seasons of the year (spring, summer, autumn and winter); the four periods of each day (morning, noon, evening and night);
the four seasons of life (childhood, youth, middle years and old age); and the Zia's belief that with life comes four sacred obligations one must develop a a strong body, a clear mind, a pure spirit, and a devotion to the welfare of others).

The symbol is featured on the New Mexico State flag and in the design of the New Mexico State capital. This is how we became acquainted with this beautiful symbol. We both find interest in Native American symbols and traditions. Kelsey is particularly fond of the Kachina Dolls of the the South West Indian tribes. Kelsey finds happiness and comfort in the Badger (represents good luck and wisdom) and the Kokopelli (fertility, new beginnings, and joy) Kachina Dolls that we have in our home. We encourage all our readers to learn as much as they can about Native Americans.

Enter the Honeymoon

Cape Meares Lighthouse
The View from our condo porch (proposal rock)

Neskowin Beach at sunset
The Octopus tree!

Well, Well, Well just as we had said earlier our honeymoon was top notch;)  The magical seven days began at the Gaylord Texan (http://www.gaylordhotels.com/gaylord-texan/). Thats right its such an impressive place we are putting the website for you, the reader, to checkout.  We were not sure if we were going to even have honeymoon due to the fact we got lost on the way to the Gaylord because we are both spazes.  We did end up making it though thanks to Courtney's superb sense of direction and over the phone turn by turn directions.  Thanks to the help of one William Leyva and Mark Orwig we were able to spent two days in a suite that would blow your mind!  Our stay ways complete with a rose pedal path to the bed and a bottle of drunky water (aka sparkling cider).  It really was an incredible stay and more importantly it made us feel like high rollers.
On monday the 23rd we headed out of Dallas via delta airlines to the City of Trees (Boise,ID).  Once we landed we wasted no time back at our apartment throwing in some additional luggage and hitting the road on a westward course to the Oregon Coast. We were heading to a little town called Neskowin, and yet again, we got a little lost getting there. This time not so much our fault, we were literally cursing the name of mapsquest. (apparently Oregon has changed the name of some of it's streets, and has failed in notifying mapsquest.) Not to mention we were hungry and sitting in a puddle due to a spilled gallon of water. (Porter totally took his anger out on the gallon container by stomping it until it was flat...it made him feel better.) But after a long (literally) and winding (literally) road we made our way to the beautiful Neskowin Resort. It was a one room studio condo, with a GREAT view! The bed was one of those that pulled down, conveniently right next to the fridge, this setup nicely accommodated our two major agenda items.
The week was filled with fun, beachy, naturey, cheesy, married goodness! We took many day trips throughout our stay, a few of the highlights included, The Tillamook Cheese Factory, The Newport Aquarium, Cannon Beach, and Astoria. We also spent a good deal of time on the beach right outside our condo. Which is the home of the famous proposal rock.  On the way home we stopped at the bonneville dam.  We also spent a night in portland,OR and enjoyed the beauty of the Portland temple.  All and all it was one big sexy adventure!

The Wedding

Sharp looking bunch of Jones' with us
Beautiful Bride with her pretty good looking bridesmaids
the new and improved buckley bunch
First dance

Date: March 21, 2009
Time: 2:00pm CT
Place: Dallas,TX LDS temple
Event: The eternal union of Kelsey Jones and Porter Buckley

If you couldn't tell, Porter has been in charge of the keyboard up until this point. Welp, what can we say about our wedding day other than-it was perfect. I must say, I was right to want to get married in Dallas. It was a perfect 78 degrees with sunshine. And just like everyone told us, the day was over all too soon. We did a pretty good job living it up though. The two of us are vain enough so that we actually enjoyed our two hour photo shoot at the temple. We really appreciated all the family support, especially the effort made from both sides of the family to come out for the glorious event!
The reception was held in the cultural hall in Kelsey's home ward building. However, we kept forgetting where we were. The place looked amazing! The mother of the bride out did her self on the decorations. There was dancing (even though the DJ was sub-par), good food, and amazing company. We were able to get to talk to everyone that came.
The first time we asked what time it was that night, there was only twenty minutes of the reception left. I guess the old saying "time flies when you're having fun." is true. Nevertheless, we were excited to start the whole honeymoon adventure... and an adventure it WAS!!!
